☀️? In a word: Engage! ?☀️
Before you say, “I don't have time to spend hours every day on Facebook chatting with people, I've got work to do, I've got to add value and share my content, get my message out there!”
.. hang on a second ..
What's the point of creating loads of content when there is nobody “out there” to consume it?
There are 2 practical reasons why you might want to think again:
☛ the algorithm – no matter whether it's Facebook or LinkedIn or whatever, social media platforms want you to spend time on their platform.
That's why they go to great lengths to find out what makes you want to do that.
The way they do that is by looking at what you ENGAGE with – who you talk to, whose stuff you like etc.
What does that mean for your posts?
If there has never been any interaction between you and the people you want to reach they likely won't even see your posts(!), and even if they do ..
☛ People don't care what you post until they care about YOU – in the age of information overload we scroll through our feeds and only stop at stuff that
➧ totally hits on a severe pain we have (pretty rare), stuff we love like cute kitten or puppy pics (fun but not great for business), or
➧ comes from people we know, like and trust (!)
So the question isn't whether you have time to chat on social media, the question is how can you achieve that someone scrolls through their feed and stops at your stuff ..
.. don't believe me?
☀ Observe people .. look at a post with very few likes and comments in a generally lively and engaged group. Then search for comments from the author on other people's posts. How many conversations are they an active part of? You won't find much. If you're part of a pod on LI or wherever you can see it play out there too ..
☀ Observe yourself .. watch your reaction when someone leaves a thoughtful comment on your post .. will you look at their post when it shows up in your feed? Yes, you will.?
❥ Are you up for an experiment?
For one week, instead of posting 5 days, post 3 days and spend the other 2 days only liking and commenting on other people's stuff in groups and conversations where your ideal audience hangs out ..
Let me know how you go.
