Episode Transcript:
In this very first episode I want to give you everything you need to know to decide whether to subscribe to this podcast or move on.
So, who is it for?
It’s for you if you’re a free spirit with a passion and want to turn that passion into a business so that you can
- Spend your time doing work that’s meaningful to you and has a direct impact on the lives of others
- Teach your kids that following your dreams is possible and worth it
- Look back at any moment without regretting all the things you would have loved to do but never did
It’s for you if you want to live your life following the pull of inspiration rather than the push of fear.
It’s for you if you have left your corporate career or planning to leave your job once you get traction with your business.
It’s for you
- if you’re just starting out and feel pulled in a million different directions
- If you’ve been at it for a while but find it’s not lifting off as you hoped
- Or if you’re in a phase of transition, changing directions and feel a bit lost in the jungle of options and paths in front of you
It’s definitely for you if you are tired of
- Programs that promise 6 figures in 6 weeks if you just follow their 6 step proven success formula
- Coaches who really only teach you the strategy that worked for them
And it’s definitely for you if you have a background in IT, engineering, science, accounting or teaching ..
.. basically if you have a strong analytical mind, and you love it because it’s made you successful in your career.
Because that means we’re probably very much on the same wavelength..
It’s not for you if you’re hoping for
Quick fixes, special deals on the latest tech toy, or a cookie cutter approach to instant success in business
So why would you listen to me anyway?
Well, I haven’t had a regular paycheck from a company in about 20 years. My first step towards working for myself was while working in IT when I started contracting.
Then in 2002 I went on holiday to Granada in the south of Spain. To cut a long story short, I fell in love with the place and started to think about how I could organise my life so I could live there.
In February 2004 I quit my job, packed up and moved to Spain to start my own sewing business .. to make it a little more interesting .. specializing in flamenco costumes.
All I had was a love for sewing and a whole lot of enthusiasm.
You can imagine it wasn’t an easy ride.
And by 2012 I was burned out and sick of it all.
It was the moment I started to take a look at what on earth I’d been doing and realized being my own boss requires me to step up in ways I didn’t expect ..
.. that old habitual patterns of thinking and behaviour are what created the challenges in business
.. that we don’t really have business problems, but personal issues that show up in our business.
For me it was being a people pleaser, not being able to say NO to stuff lead to a feeling of pressure that slowly built up until the balloon popped that day in June 2012.
It might be something different for you .. stories around money or feelings of not being good enough might sound familiar
The insights gained helped me turn the sewing business around and inspired me to go back to school and become a coach so I could help others navigate the challenging but oh so rewarding journey of starting their own business.
When I was reflecting on what did and didn’t work in my sewing business I saw something else that goes against what most business building experts teach ..
You see, I’ve always been a creator.
Bringing ideas to life is the common thread that connects the different careers I’ve had over the years.
And I realized that building a business is a creative process too, it follows the same natural phases as creating a piece of art, or a dress or some music.
In the episodes of this podcast I’ll talk about what all of that means for you and how it’ll help YOU get you the results you’re looking for ..
Imagine , how would the experience of building your business change if you could relax into the process, enjoy creating, enjoy being surprised, ride the waves of uncertainty in a lighthearted way, be playful and have fun in the process?
If that sounds good to you you’re definitely in the right place.
I’ll talk to you again soon.
