A group of young famenco dancers had finished their performance when an old gypsy woman, who had been accompanying the performance clapping, got up – as if pulled by invisible strings – and started dancing.

Seconds later there were standing ovations. I remember feeling goose bumps all over and tears streaming down my face.

What happened?

It's called “duende” in flamenco.

It's what mesmerizes and draws people from all over the world to flamenco.

It's raw, it's intense, it's unforgettable.

If you have to ask what it is you haven't felt it.

It's beyond words.

It's what happens when a flamenco artist – singing, dancing or playing the guitar – bypasses the rational mind and goes straight to that space deep inside, when art touches the soul.

The young dancers were good. They performed the carefully rehearsed coreography well. They spent years mastering the complex rhythms, strict structures and complicated footwork of flamenco.

But that's not where the magic is.

The magic starts when you take what you've learned and make it yours.

When you're bold enough to be YOU, unapologetically.

When you're vulnerable and powerful enough to step out on that stage and OWN it!

Same for building your business ..

(PS: yep, I made the dresses in the pictures, in case you were wondering )

PPS: I'm planning the Passion Business Retreat for next year and it will have an experiential introduction to flamenco ? so if you'd love to find out what “duende” feels like and what that can do for your business let me know and I keep you in the loop as things unfold.
